Our Ramblers' group is one of the many Ramblers' groups in the country, part of the National Ramblers charity (https://www.ramblers.org.uk/). The Norwich Group currently has 530 members, with more than 103,000 Ramblers’ members nationally. As a member of Ramblers, you can walk with any group in the country. If you are not sure if walking with the Ramblers is for you, you can try up to 3 walks for free before you become a member. You choose which group you would like to be affiliated with, and you can change groups at any time. There are currently 10 groups in the Norfolk Area https://www.ramblers.org.uk/go-walking/ramblers-groups/areas/norfolk-area

The Norwich Group welcomes new members of all ages. We have a full walk programme (see the tab at the top of the page) throughout the year led by our experienced leaders. On Sundays, we walk between 10 and 13 miles. We also have walks on Wednesdays of up to 11 miles. We sometimes have shorter walks on Wednesdays, and occasionally on Saturdays, especially in the summer months. In the last year we have introduced “social walks”: London trips have been hugely popular, with a couple of trips to Cambridge and other locations.
Many of our walks are dog friendly. This will be stated for each walk on the walks programme. We ask that dogs are always kept on a short lead. For details, please see our Dogs Policy under the Documents tab.
We are happy to offer lifts and encourage car sharing. There is a WhatsApp group specifically for this purpose for the Norwich Members. Details under the walks programme.
In addition to our local walks, mainly in the Norfolk area, our group also organises walking trips away (see the tab at the top of the page for details and programme)
Our social events are well attended, which include monthly pub meetings among many other interesting activities.
The Norwich Ramblers have a Facebook group which is open only to Ramblers' members. You can request to join on this link https://www.facebook.com/groups/333667117549601
Ramblers is not just about walking. Our group is committed to the maintenance and repair of footpaths and associated infrastructure and parties of volunteers under trained leadership operate a programme of works.
To find the most up to date information about our walks, trips and events please visit this website. You will find everything you need here on our walks page, trips away page etc. This is what most members use. Our walks are also published on the National Ramblers website and on “Meetup” under Norwich Ramblers (https://www.meetup.com/norwich-ramblers/), where you can interact with other walkers attending the walks. You can also download the Ramblers App when you become a member.
Remember to bring a packed lunch and drinks and appropriate clothing and footwear for walking in the countryside, including for wet weather.
Please ring the walk leader if you have any questions about a particular walk. For more information about our group, please email ramblers.norwich20@gmail.com
